CAPTAINS:LOG 002

There is an entire world of people fighting everyday to be relevant and I’ve been willfully ignoring it because I didn’t want to participate in age appropriate creative processes. Because I’ve always catered to family friendly media I’ve never taken a chance on thinking creatively.

I should be asking myself the toughest questions I think I can manage. And I should use my music to work through those difficult ideas. I’m trying to use this blog as an outlet to let go of some of the technical aspects of what I’m doing. I’m finding myself writing lyrics about the creative process itself instead of using it to inspire deeper meaning. 

I’ve also realized that I can’t make the excuse of not having the “right gear” to make music. It’s 2019 and technology is cheap. I’m making this entire record with a laptop, a 2 channel interface, a midi controller, one tube mic and one two guitars.

I have an entire recording studio in a backpack. All the gear plus unlimited software instruments and samples. There’s absolutely no excuse why I’m not making music consistently and I’m excited to get this first release done!
